Alexandra Simione, LGMFT


Using a systemic and holistic approach, Alexandra works with clients to realize their hopes for a future of their choosing. Through a non-judgmental, collaborative approach within a trusting therapeutic relationship, she aims to create a space that embodies acceptance, care, empathy and enduring positive regard.

Alexandra believes that individuals, couples and families can find change and growth through emotional understanding and insight. With a focus on underlying emotions and needs, Alexandra helps clients find emotional well-being, increased self-esteem, emboldened self-worth and improved secure communication.

Alexandra has experience working with clients exploring communication, intimacy, anxiety, depression, attachment, conflict, sense of self and trauma. She also has experience working with clients who identify as ENM/polyamorous, kink/fetish/BDSM and LGBTQIA+.

She is experienced in working with clients from diverse cultural, racial, familial and religious backgrounds. She also understands the unique intersectionality of each client’s experience and is curious to learn about their experiences to adapt her therapy to be culturally sensitive to each client’s unique background.

Alexandra is informed by the systemic and relational perspectives found within the following therapy models: Emotionally Focused Therapy (evidence-based), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (evidence-based), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy (evidence-based), Narrative Therapy and Experiential Therapy. She also uses trauma informed and mindfulness lenses to address specific client needs.

She earned her Master of Science, Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland where she gained experience with the Center for Healthy Families. She also earned her Bachelor and Master in Accountancy from The George Washington University.
